北京大學佛教研究中心

北京大學佛教研究中心是北京大學註冊的跨院系學術機構,隸屬於哲學系(宗教學系)管理。中心名譽主任為樓宇烈教授,現任主任為王頌教授,前主任為姚衛群教授。

北京大學是中國現代高等教育機構中最早(1917年)開設佛學研究科目的大學。早期教師包括著名佛學家梁漱溟、熊十力,佛教史家湯用彤等諸先生,此外還有鋼和泰、李華德等外籍學者,課程涵蓋佛教哲學、佛教史、佛教古典語文學、佛教文獻等各個方面,引領風氣,基本奠定了現當代中國佛教研究的格局。建國以後,又有金克木、季羨林、任繼愈、周一良、宿白等著名學者曾在此從事與佛教相關的教學和研究工作。北京大學更是培養了大批佛教研究人才,改革開放以後中國大陸地區最具代表性的佛教學者如黃心川、杜繼文、石峻、方立天、樓宇烈、楊曾文等都曾在北大求學,中國現當代著名的佛教學者大多與北京大學有或多或少的淵源。

北京大學佛教研究中心充分發揮北京大學學科齊備、學術實力雄厚的優勢,依託哲學宗教學系的教學科研隊伍,借助本校外國語學院、歷史系、考古文博學院等與佛教研究相關院系的學術資源,同時與清華大學、中國人民大學等兄弟院校的佛教研究機構開展橫向聯合,與諸多海外名校的佛教研究機構進行學術交流與合作。中心在爭取校內外支持的基礎上,開展課題研究,舉辦各類學術會議和講座,舉行田野和社會考察,實施豐富多彩的教學科研活動。

北京大學佛教研究中心誠願與海內外學術單位、社會各界有識之士開展合作,為振興佛教學術研究、弘揚傳統文化而努力。


About The Buddhist Research Center, PKU

The Buddhist Research Center, PKU is a cross-disciplinary academic institution registered with Peking University and managed by the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. The Honorary Director of the Center is Professor Lou Yulie(樓宇烈, 1934-), the current Director is Professor Wang Song(王頌, 1971-), and the former Director is Professor Yao Weiqun(姚衛群, 1954-).

Peking University was the first modern institution of higher education in China to offer courses in Buddhist studies, dating back to 1917. Early faculty members included famous Buddhist scholars such as Liang Shuming(梁漱溟, 1893-1988), Xiong Shili(熊十力, 1885-1968), and Tang Yongtong(汤用彤, 1893-1964), as well as foreign scholars such as Alexander von Stael-Holstein (鋼和泰, 1877-1937)and Walter Liebenthal(李華德, 1886-1982). The curriculum covered various aspects of Buddhist philosophy, history, classical language and literature, and philology, laying the foundation for contemporary Buddhist studies in China. Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China, many renowned scholars such as Jin Kemu(金克木, 1912-2000), Ji Xianlin(季羨林, 1911-2009), Ren Jiyu(任繼愈, 1916-2009), Zhou Yiliang(周一良, 1913-2001), and Su Bai(宿白, 1922-2018) have been engaged in teaching and research related to Buddhism at Peking University. Peking University has also trained a large number of scholars in Buddhist studies. Most of the representative Buddhist scholars in mainland China after the reform and opening up, such as Huang Xinchuan(黄心川, 1928-2021), Du Jiwen(杜繼文, 1930-), Shi Jun(石峻, 1916-1999), Fang Litian(方立天, 1933-2014), Lou Yulie(樓宇烈, 1934-), and Yang Zengwen(楊曾文, 1939-) have studied at Peking University. Many famous contemporary Buddhist scholars in China have some connection with Peking University.

The Buddhist Research Center, PKU fully utilizes the advantages of Peking University's comprehensive disciplines and strong academic capabilities. It relies on the teaching and research team of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies and makes use of the academic resources of other departments related to Buddhist studies, such as the School of Foreign Languages, the Department of History, and the School of Archaeology and Museology. The Center also cooperates with other Buddhist research institutions at Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, and many famous overseas universities. Based on the support from inside and outside the university, the Center conducts research projects, organizes various academic conferences and lectures, carries out field and social investigations, and implements rich and diverse teaching and research activities.

The Buddhist Research Center, PKU sincerely hopes to cooperate with academic institutions and individuals at home and abroad, as well as various sectors of society, to promote the revitalization of Buddhist academic research and the promotion of traditional culture.
